Chapter 4

The morning came as the girls dozed through it, finally awakening with a need for coffee and food. Kennie looked shyly at Lacey as they moved slightly apart, feeling uncertain about what happened now. Was this a one-night thing or would she be back to show her more? Did Lacey need Kennie as much as Kennie felt like she needed her?

“Morning, pretty girl.” Lacey said huskily, looking around the room with a smile. “Doing okay?”

“I keep wondering if last night was a dream.” Kennie confessed, her heart on her sleeve as she gave in to her feelings for just a moment. “I…it meant a lot to me.”

“I know. I could tell from the first hello that you weren’t the type to do this carelessly and without want, but it was between us from that moment.” Lacey told her, reaching out to stroke Kennie’s hair softly.

“Are you?” Kennie asked her, making Lacey frown for a moment.

“I have been at times.” Lacey swallowed, needing the water from the night before she stood and told Kennie that she’d be right back. She made sure that the blinds were closed before she walked into the kitchen for some cold drinks and returned to the bed. “So I’ve been working the bar scene for a few years now and I’m just twenty-five. We party sometimes and things happen.” Kennie stared at her as Lacey slid her hands through her thick hair with a sigh. “How old are you?”

“Twenty-four last month.” Kennie responded, finding it kind of funny that she’d come on Lacey’s fingers while neither of them had known even these little things.

“One of those…things involved a waiter at the bar and his girlfriend. She lived here because she was a friend of Mel’s and Colt got the job that way.”

“Will this be a problem for him?” Kennie asked, making Lacey stare at her for a moment as she remembered their relation.

“Fuck. He’s going to hate this.” She waved her hand around before she took a long drink of water. “I got involved with him first, drunk one night and feeling good from a packed night. We ended up in the storage room, so close to fucking that it was touch and go before someone found us and stopped it. I walked away from that, not planning on anything else happening. I was going to keep it out of the bar, my work and his. I didn’t want to complicate anything.”

“What happened?” Kennie asked her breathlessly, her nipples hard under the shirt as Lacey stared at her with darkening eyes.

“I ended up coming here with them a couple of weeks later. I’m into both obviously, I guess, and it started with him and I finishing what we started while she watched us. Then it was her and I…all three of us. It got crazy for a few months and there was all kinds of talk around the bar.” Lacey pinched her eyes closed. “It was about a year ago but I’m still this wild girl that everybody should watch out for because I’ll eat you for breakfast and spit you out.
